Whales: 15 January to 30 March
This is the official watching season in Samaná Bay, set by the Ministry of Environment. Outside these dates, whale-watching trips are not offered.
Rain
According to the Caribbean Regional Climate Centre, the driest months in Samaná are February to April and the wettest September to November. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November (ONAMET).
Wind for kitesurfing
A specialist spot database (unofficial source) puts the best season at Punta Popy from April to August. Schools confirm current conditions.
All year round
Los Haitises, Cayo Levantado, waterfalls, horseback riding and local culture can be enjoyed all year, depending on the day's weather.
