Frequently asked questions

The platform

What is Terrenas Tours?

An independent directory of tours and activities in Las Terrenas and on the Samaná Peninsula, with a request service. Our team answers you on WhatsApp and, with your agreement, contacts providers.

Are the providers shown partners of the platform?

Not necessarily. Listings are created from public information or from the provider's own sign-up. The "Platform partner" label only appears when a real agreement exists.

Do I need an account?

No. To send a request we only need your WhatsApp number; all other fields are optional.

Prices and bookings

Is my request a booking?

No. A request is not a confirmed booking. Our team messages you on WhatsApp to confirm price, times and availability.

Where do the prices come from?

From the provider's public sources (official website, public pages) or from the provider directly. Each price shows its unit, its date and how it was checked. A price not reconfirmed for more than 7 days is marked "to be reconfirmed".

Do I pay on the site?

No, the site takes no payments. Payment, deposit and cancellation terms are confirmed with you before any commitment. Do not pay the full amount upfront to someone you do not know.

Why does the total for my group show "on request"?

We only calculate a total when the published rules are explicit (child price by age, capacity, park entrance, taxes). If something is missing we say so and confirm it with you.

Activities and seasons

When can you see whales in Samaná?

The official watching season in Samaná Bay runs from 15 January to 30 March, with watching allowed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Ministry of Environment).

Can you swim with the whales?

Not in Samaná Bay, where it is prohibited. We do not list any trip of this kind.

What does "out of season" mean?

That the activity is seasonal and today's date (or the date you chose) is outside the dates published by a source. The listing stays visible, but the activity may not run.

Can I rent a quad without a guide?

Only guided tours are listed here. To rent a vehicle without a guide, see our rental site RentLasTerrenas.com.

Safety

What number should I call in an emergency?

911, the national emergency and security system, which operates in Samaná province.

What should I check before a boat trip?

Life jackets for everyone (including child sizes), the day's sea conditions, what happens if the trip is cancelled for weather and, for whales, compliance with the official rules.

How do I report a problem with an activity?

With the "Report this activity" button on each listing or from the Report an activity page. Every report is reviewed. In case of immediate danger, call 911.

Personal data

Is my number shared with providers?

Only with your agreement (box ticked in the form or agreement given on WhatsApp), and only with the information needed for the activity. You can withdraw your agreement at any time.

How long do you keep my data?

Requests with no activity are anonymised after 12 months. You can ask for access or deletion sooner from the Exercise my rights page.

Providers

I am a provider — how do I get listed?

Use the List your activity form. It is free; the listing is checked before publication and your contact details are never published.

My activity is listed without my asking — what can I do?

You can ask for it to be corrected, completed or removed using the same form, choosing the relevant subject.
