What to do in Las Terrenas in 3 days
Beaches, a waterfall and a boat day — a simple plan to adapt to the season and your group.
Updated on October 4, 2026
Use this plan as a starting point and adapt it to the season, the ages in your group and your pace. Each activity links to published listings with their known prices and inclusions.
Day 1 — Beaches near town
Start gently on the nearby beaches. According to the official tourism site, the western end of Playa Bonita has very calm water that families love, and Playa Cosón is great for long walks and for kitesurfing, with lessons on the beach. To give it a go, see the water sports lessons.
Day 2 — El Limón waterfall
The waterfall drops about 40 m into a pool where you can swim. The route is about 2.5 km and can be done on foot, with good fitness, or on horseback. Set off early with shoes that can get wet and a swimsuit. See the El Limón waterfall tours.
Day 3 — A day on the water
Choose according to the season: - 15 January to 30 March: whale watching in Samaná Bay, often combined with Cayo Levantado. - All year round: Los Haitises (mangroves, limestone hills, caves with Taíno art) or an islands and beaches trip.
