Village at the eastern tip of the peninsula, close to Playa Rincón, Playa Frontón and Playa Madama.
From Las Galeras, Playa Rincón is a 15-minute drive or a short boat ride away (official tourism site).
Playa Frontón is reached by boat from Las Galeras or by a longer hike, and is a popular tour stop.
The last stretch to Playa Madama is a rough dirt road; a 4×4 vehicle is required, about 30 minutes from Las Galeras.
Swimming with whales is prohibited in Samaná Bay; a March 2026 press report noted informal tours offering it from Las Galeras.
