Salto El Limón drops about 40 m (130 ft) from the heights of the Sierra de Samaná.

The water falls into a pool where visitors can swim.

The route to Salto El Limón is about 2.5 km (1.5 miles) and can be done on foot by people in good physical condition, or on horseback.

There are several starting points for the climb; the La Manzana stop (parada) is recommended as the easiest, and the walk takes about 40 minutes to an hour.

The official tourism site places the waterfall 16 km, or about 25 minutes, from Samaná Bay.

It is protected as the Monumento Natural Salto El Limón; the Ministry of Environment highlights its 40 m waterfall surrounded by ferns and endemic species such as guázara and palo de gusano.

Salto El Limón is among the most visited protected areas in the country, with more foreign than Dominican visitors (Ministry of Environment).
